Nick Bradfield is a Marine veteran and graduate of Northwestern University with a Masters in Predictive Analytics. He started his career in financial services as a financial advisor with a large brokerage firm. Through this experience, he found an interest in helping people minimize fees via index funds/ETFs - and soon, the idea for Divvy Investments was born. After a few years Nick decided it was time to move on. He spent awhile in a financial services consulting firm followed by a brief stint at a publicly traded technology company. Nick was not the right fit for the corporate world. Upon being told he needed to care less about customers, he decided it was time to go into business for himself. When not working, Nick can be found playing superheroes with his son, gazing deeply into his wife's eyes (of which she just rolled), and talking about baseball. Nick passed the Series 65 exam which allows him to operate as an Investment Advisor Representative.
Tiffany Alexy's thirst for investing started in college when she picked up A Random Walk Down Wall Street. She immediately related with the philosophy of passive investing, as she largely followed that approach with her real estate investments. Her interest in business and entrepreneurship landed her in the Global Innovation Management program at NC State University, where she obtained her Masters degree in 2014. After a brief stint at Vanguard (where she also got her Series 7 & 63), Tiffany knew she wasn't meant for corporate life and instead set out on pursuing her own entrepreneurial ventures. In her spare time, Tiffany likes to read, ride horses, and host private house concerts for budding musicians.
Divvy Investments LLC is an online subscription based tool designed to simplify retirement investing. The company is bootstrapped out of Cary, NC which means quarterly returns to stockholders and private equity exit strategies don't drive the business. It provides low cost asset allocation advice using data science to recommend specific index funds for the chosen models and provides alerts to customers on when it is time to rebalance. It is set up as a Registered Investment Advisor (RIA) with the SEC. The company doesn't hold any customer funds or ask customers to link their brokerage accounts to the website. It provides guidance for the do-it-yourself investor.
It was founded in 2015.
The company is based out of Cary, North Carolina (outside of Raleigh near the Research Triangle Park). However, it is registered with SEC nationwide and is able to conduct business across the US.
The financial services industry as a whole has done a tremendous job confusing investors and advisors alike. Currently, there are a lot of really smart people who want to create investment portfolios on their own. These people, even though they are really smart, often spend way too much time monitoring portfolios because they either don't know where to begin or they get confused by information overload. Divvy Investments is designed to help investors and advisors make better decisions with investments.
